2024 wedding trends

Love them or hate them, it’s always a good idea to be aware of trends, especially when it comes to your wedding. In today’s blog post, we are exploring ten 2024 wedding trends that we have come across and that we think will be huge according to our research!

While we are mostly focused on stationery, we will be mentioning some trends that are outside of the stationery world because: #1 they’re fun, and #2 we have a holistic approach to our stationery design. We believe the stationery should reflect and be cohesive with the entire wedding vision. So, without further ado, let’s get to those trends!

  • Immersive/interactive guest experiences

There is such a wide range of possibilities when it comes to this trend. You can have entertainers at the entrance to wow your guests when they start entering the ceremony and/or reception. You can also change up how you do wedding favors by having unforgettable guest experiences like a tattoo artist or an artist painting portraits of the guests.

Another way I have seen this trend is by changing up how you do signature cocktails! There are companies that create a sort of wall and you ring a bell, then a hand comes out from behind a little curtain and hands you your drink! It’s very fun and silly and memorable!

2024 Wedding Trends

  • Sustainability

This has been a trend for a while but it is really something I’ve noticed more and more couples talk about lately. We can be sustainable in many ways when it comes to your stationery. We can use paper that is 100% recycled, we can limit the number of cards you use, as well as use QR codes for RSVPs as opposed to having an envelope. You can use paper with seeds in it so guests are able to plant them afterwards. There are also things you definitely would want to avoid like acrylic invitations. For day-of, you can have sustainable place cards and/or wedding favors like plants, fruits, leaves, seaglass.

  • Bold colors

Colors like deep burgundy, emerald green, and vibrant blue are all in! This can be incorporated in so many ways in your wedding and in your stationery. We can obviously use paper that come in those colors or we can incorporate gorgeous ribbon, wax seals, envelopes, etc. We can also create bold watercolor illustrations or customize your calligraphy ink colors. There are endless possibilities!

  • Tech-savvy touches

Of course, the most obvious way to do this trend from a stationer’s perspective is using QR codes. Not only do they help your wedding be more sustainable, but it can be a lot easier for some people to RSVP using a QR code. You do have to consider that some guests may not know how to use QR codes so there is always the possibility of having to create 2 different RSVP cards to accommodate for that but, it’s always an option! You can also have a lot of your information on your website as opposed to having it all on paper.

Other fun techy things couples can do are having wedding apps, digital guestbooks, using drones, having photo booths, and even digital signage.

  • Non-traditional venues

More and more couples are opting to get married at places other than a church or chapel. Of course, we have had backyard weddings, barn weddings, beach weddings, etc for a while but we are seeing couples choose to get married at places like a yacht, salt caves, museums, libraries, etc. I personally love this trend! It’s such a fun way to make the wedding more personal and memorable!

  • Personalized wedding favors

I also absolutely love this trend. It really shows your guests that you care about them and are thankful they are celebrating with you. You can have pre-personalized wedding favors waiting for them or, if you want to have an interactive guest experience, you can have someone personalizing their favors live! This is something that we at PBDS actually can do! We can paint mini watercolor portraits of your guests so they can take a cute little painting of themselves home as opposed to the same ol’ boring wedding favors. We can also letter on almost any surface! Leather luggage tags, engraved candles, mini champagne bottles, etc. The sky is the limit with this trend!

  • Mini everything!

This trend may be the cutest. We are talking mini everything from mini wedding dresses all the way to mini desserts and favors.

  • Private vows

We have all seen First Look videos and how emotional and beautiful those can be. Couples are taking it up a notch by having private vows as well. I love this trend because they can have a moment for just the two of them where they can take as long as they want to say their vows without having to speak into a mic, or try to hold back tears, or even speak over a crying child or loud environment. Then, during the ceremony, they can either skip the vows altogether or say a more shortened version of their vows.

  • Textured cakes

I have seen these everywhere and I’m absolutely obsessed. These textured cakes remind me of fine art you see in a museum and honestly, I’m all for it! They are gorgeous!! I can see how this could be paired together with stationery and signage, especially for all of the day-of paper. It’s so beautiful and I hope more couples follow this trend!

  • Specific guest attire

As a stationer, I have definitely been seeing this more lately. With social media being as big as ever, couples want to have a cohesive wedding look and this includes the guests! This goes beyond just saying “cocktail attire”. Couples are requesting that guests dress in a certain color or a specific color palette. I think this is kind of cool because honestly, as a guest, it narrows down my options and helps with picking out an outfit!
