What is included in the price of custom wedding stationery?

What is ACTUALLY included in the price of wedding stationery? You may be wondering this and you wouldn’t be alone. It’s a very common question. Being a stationer is not as ubiquitous as being a photographer or a baker. Many couples wonder what goes into the whole process and where their money is going. I want to help you understand a bit more of what I do in today’s post.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

Designing custom wedding invitations is SO fun!! I get to really know the couple as individuals and as two people about to start a life together. I love the challenge of taking that and designing meaningful and cohesive stationery.

Before I begin any designing, I ask you questions about the styles you like, colors you want to see, anything you DEFINITELY want included and also things you absolutely want me to say away from. I get to know you as a couple so I can design with intention. We can design a whole invitation suite based on your florals, or where you met, or your wedding venue.

I create a sketch based on all of your answers so I can make sure we are on the same page. Once you approve the sketch, I get started on calligraphy, and watercolor all done by hand. I then digitize all of that and start designing your suite.

This is where working with a stationer who will design custom pieces for you is really a game changer. The sky's the limit!

Once the design is done, I send you a super realistic mock-up to approve. We allow 3 revisions so we can make sure you’re thrilled with your stationery! If more revisions are necessary, I like to have a discussion about how that can impact our timeline. This brings me to the next point.

EDUCATION

For most couples, this is their first time getting married. You may know a bit about wedding etiquette and the ins and outs of wedding paper but the majority of people have no clue. I know I had no idea about all the different stationery pieces when I got married 4 and a half years ago. This is why we believe it’s so important to spend time on educating our couples.

We go over wording and timeline etiquette. We also discuss all the pieces of a wedding suite, what can be written on the actual invitation card, cards you may not need, fun additions your budget may allow for, as well as all the different types of paper and printing methods.

It’s so important that you know what you’re getting and that you feel comfortable investing in your invitations.

THE FINISHED PRODUCT

Then, of course, we’ve got the final product: your beautiful invitations! We work with the best vendors in the business to ensure you have a product with impeccable quality. We really take pride in working with other vendors who are as passionate about this as we are.

Each piece is hand assembled, quality checked and assured, and beautifully packaged to be delivered directly to you. We package your invitations to make it easy for you to mail them out to your guests. We even include a keepsake set just for you to keep forever and another pristine set for your photographer so they can get the best Details shot on the wedding day.

Custom work is truly so special and something that almost doesn’t exist anymore! I love the ease of automation as much as the next person but there are certain things that really deserve a human touch and extra attention. I love taking the time to create something that is beautiful and unique and that you will want to keep forever!
