I believe that your wedding invitations are so much more than “just paper”—they’re a chance to tell your love story and hint at the experience that awaits your guests. And of course, they’re also a keepsake that you’ll return to for decades to come.
On this blog, I take you behind the scenes in my studio to explain the custom stationery process and show you hand-painted invitation suites I’ve created for couples like you.
Paige and Johnny got married at The White Trail Club In Jupiter, Florida, which describes itself as a European-style farm & fields, specialized in rare roses, ornamentals, and lavender.

Leaning into their floral venue, they described their wedding vision as “classic sophistication with a romantic garden touch,” and even encouraged guests to wear floral prints.
To match the garden theme, I created an invitation suite & day-of paper with a soft, romantic feel, paired with Provençal touches and custom watercolor artwork inspired by their venue.

For Paige and Johnny’s save the dates, I created a crest with their initials in a graceful script, surrounded by a hand-painted lavender motif. We later reused the crest on the envelope liner for the formal invitations.

For their invitation, I created custom watercolor artwork featuring the building that would serve as the backdrop to their ceremony.

The property is full of enchanting vines and greenery, so I created a lush green pattern for the border and back of the RSVP card.

Both their save-the-dates and their invitations were printed on soft, textured handmade paper with a deckled edge, lending each piece a romantic feel. For this type of paper, letterpress is ideal. Tying into the lavender motif, Paige and Johnny chose pale purple ink for their letterpress.

Like many of my couples, Paige and Johnny couldn’t pass up a chance to mention their pups at their wedding. At cocktail hour, they had a sign on the bar describing their signature cocktails. Each cocktail was named after one of their dogs, so of course I included a hand-painted portrait of each dog. (And continuing with the lavender theme, one of the cocktails was a lavender lemonade!)

At the reception, lush florals adorned every table, pairing cream- and peach-colored roses with blooms in pastel blue, pink, and purple.
Their table numbers and escort cards also featured custom watercolor art, with delicate florals in bright colors. Each guest’s name was written in the same elegant script as we chose for the invitations. This gave the entire event a cohesive feel, from the first save-the-date to the reception dinner.

You’ll notice elements of the garden theme elsewhere, too: Paige’s stunning Mira Zwillinger dress had an overlay with a floral motif, and she also wore white Vans with a floral lace design. They also had hand-embroidered vow books with daffodils and their wedding date. Even the salads at dinner were topped with edible florals!

Another fun personal touch was the race car atop the wedding cake. Both Paige and Johnny come from families that are involved with drag racing—she races regularly, and he operates a shop that specializes in racing engines.
